These are a cheaper version of the more expensive etymotic ear phones and I think they're great. They come with 4 different ear buds, two replacement filters and a cleaning tool in a handy little pouch. Once you've found the correct buds for your ear canal (and for different types of sound) your away. The noise reduction is suberb and treble & bass suits me just fine. More base? Push them in a little further. Simple. Very good product for the price. Arrived the next day.

I don't normally write reviews for products I purchase, but decided I had to this time in the hope that my contribution will help others as much as everyone elses helped me.

As a professional drummer for some time, a lot of the music I play is synched to a backing track which I play along to and the rest of the band plays along to me. What this means is I need headphones. It also means, as I'm making a lifetime career of this I need GOOD headphones that will protect my ears, so not just anything will do.

I used to use EXTREME ISOLATION cans, and still do in the studio, but live its nice to have something more discreet.

I used to use Shure EC2 headpones for years and they served me well. I won't go into specifics as they are now discontinued, so I needed to find something else to replace them that was not going to break the bank.

In short I looked everywhere online to compare headphones and when I discovered these Etymotic ones I was intrigued due to the fact I also use standard Etymotic ear plugs at gigs etc... So, they clearly know that PROTECTING the ears is important. Also, the price was right, and the only thing that concerned me was if they would stay within the ear when I'm going berserk on stage.

The answer is yes they do, using the replacement black foam tips (included) instead of the standard tips they come fitted with, I found they stay in the ear perfectly and are just what I've been looking for at a good price. What's more, if you really need, you can pick them up from HMV as some of the larger ones have started stocking them. Nice.

With regards to sound quality, that was never an issue. I wasn't buying these to sit back and relax. I was buying them for one purpose only. However, having said that, I;d say normal listening is fine, and I can drown out the rest of the band while on the road to relax myself.

Win.

NB. After 6 months of use I have JUST needed to replace the foam eartips. I've used them A LOT and I think general wear and tear has caused one of the tips to fall apart. The other is fine.

If you are thinking about audio splitter, this one is it.
Its resonable in price and much better than the other ones.
Aside from having more sockets (sure you might think you dont need this many... but if you have friends and anything interesting to watch or listen to then all slots will be used up pretty quickly) the sound quality is pretty good. The volume of the sound does decrease slightly (barely noticable) with every extra headphone, but thats to be expected.
The mixing thing is more of a novelty. Its a challenge to find two songs that works...but can be kinda fun for those long road trips.

This not only does what's expected but it also works in both directions.
The reason I bought this was because I needed multiple inputs going into the same plug in the line in, and this did exactly that, the only problem (but an expected problem), is that because you are taking multiple inputs it does reduce the strength of the individual inputs because it does not have any pre-amp, and it isn't powered. But for the little hack job that I bought this for, it works brilliantly.

These are AWESOME headphones, probably would have paid about £100 for the noise cancellation alone, took me about an hour to get in my ears and stop them falling out though, but that's because you need to pull your ear back and up. which is annoying, but only takes a few seconds. the headphones themselves are really good, treble is perfect, the main flaw is that it has a low amount of bass, as i listen to hip hop rnb etc, i like a lot of bass. although you can use the foam tips which make quite a difference to bass. the best thing about these earphones is BY FAR the noise cancellation, on the specs they say 35-40db, but it appears to be more. with NO music playing if you get them in right you can walk along and you won't hear the cars at all. it's unbelievable. playing music at full volume blocks out EVERYTHING, walked past a pneumatic drill the other day, didn't even realise it was there.

definately a reccomended buy, specially with the 2 years warranty as i always break headphones.

After searching the web for a suitable pair of headphones for the gym I stumbled across these HD-25-SP II. I purchased a set from Amazon at £75 (which is a very good price IMO).

I already own a pair of Sennheisers (PX100 these are great little over ear headphones) and wanted to upgrade to a better pair.

I have been running these in for the last 3/4 days and they now sound great - The detail is amazing with very good high and mid range, the bass is ok, I think these are very accurate headphones they are not over bassy. It is funny because even when paired with my iphone you start to notice sounds that werent there before (in the music).

I have to say they sound far better with my iphone 3GS than with my ipod shuffle 1st gen.

The build quality is good; many have said in other reviews they look cheap, I disagree they are well made and the design is simple. I was suprised to see that these are made in Ireland (and not germany).

The comfort is good I have been wearing these for 1-2 hours at a time and my ears dont hurt.

I use these for running in the gym and general working out - They sit on the ear nicely are just the right size (not too big) and have great sound quality. These have a long cable, I needed to tie it to make it shorter (a small price to pay for good sound).

Overall an excellent set of headphones for the price. I would recommend these to anyone wanting high quality sound for running and gym work.

These `Cans' are rather difficult to review to be honest - The very first impression, on opening them is: How much? Lightweight plastic throughout, no nice springy mechanisms, no leather (or leatherette) on the band just plastic, plastic & plastic.
It's only once you start using them, the wisdom of Sennheiser comes to the fore - they perform better than almost anything under £200. I've owned the HD600 audiophile model, and can honestly say these sound slightly better! How they achieve this is a mystery to me .. The cheap plastic I mentioned is also a bonus simply because it's so very tough, I don't think these would ever break under even the roughest circumstances - for DJ use this must be a huge advantage. The cable is changeable and very well made, extremely strong, but very, very long, making portable use (with an mp3 player) very difficult. I wish they made a 1m replacement!
To sum up: Smashing sound quality, fabulous strength and very light on the old bonce!
Oh, and one last thing, which is the main reason I bought them. They block out Eastenders on the telly, so I can enjoy my tunes while my wife watches her dross - and she can't hear my tchhh tchhh tchhh tchhh tchhh ..... unlike the HD600's !!

These phones are ideal for dj use (and should be used primarily as dj phones) because of the closed back design and excellent handling of music at high volume levels - the sound is clear at all times. There are replacement parts available too.

I've used them for listening to music at home, on the hi-fi and, IMO, are not the best for long relaxing listening sessions, as i found the sound to be a little 'in your face'. It's weird, but i think that music sounded a little tiring to listen to for any length of time on these cans, and can make your ears a bit sweaty.

I've also used them as commuting headphones and have mixed feeling on there ability here a bit too. They are pretty good for their size (on-ear, not over-ear) at blocking outside noise (and don't really leak sound out either), and the music comes over quite well on the bus, tube, etc. They are so light that you can walk with them on and not have any problems there, other than a very minor muffled thud as you walk. My only gripe is that they don't quite go loud enough on my i-pod. I have the volume up all the way and it just doesn't quite have the level i want for the underground trains, when i really want to immerse myself in the music (but i don't know any on or over-ear phones that do - suggestions please!). The long lead needs to be wrapped up for listening to on the go as well, and of course, doesn't have in-line volume control.

Summary;
-Excellent dj phones
-Ok for shortish listens at home
-Ok for commuting but maybe not loud enough for mp3 players.

alternatives?
-for djing: none better.
-for long listens at home: beyerdynamic 231/5
-for unfussy travellers/commuters: cheap sony ear-buds mdr-e829v (they go loud, are convenient and have volume control) - but i'd like to know if anyone knows of closed back headphones (AKG K 430/416/27i???, Sennheiser 212?), or ear-canal phones (£30 Sennheisers?), that are REALLY good for THE UNDERGROUND AND WALKING WITH - so great at blocking out noise, great sound quaility (punchy) and go loud on mp3 players (and under £60!!!)

This is my favourite format for earphones - behind-the-neck, but not earbuds. I've tried a bunch of different products of this format from various manufacturers (Philips, Sony etc.), and the PMX60 is the best I've found so far. The sound quality is good, and the earphone parts themselves are thin - a significant advantage over other models, which can be bulky. If you're looking for affordable behind-the-neck earphones, this is the best product on the market.
